The Perils of Permelia: A sugarhouse ladies cozy mystery

Fifty years ago, Permelia's fiancé mysteriously disappeared. . .

Now he’s back, stabbed and bleeding on her doorstep, and towing bad guys and trouble in his wake.

Bad guys don’t scare Permelia. She’s managed to survive encounters with terrorists, armed mercenaries, and evil drug cartels—all after reaching retirement age. But she doesn't appreciate someone trying to murder the man who abandoned her on their wedding day—at least not before she gets the chance to kill him herself.

Permelia decided long ago that she is content being alone. She doesn't need to be anchored to a man. And she certainly wants nothing to do with the neighborhood ladies who keep begging her to join their silly social club.

But when her first love shows up at her house, hurt and maybe dying, Permelia needs help, and the Sugar House ladies are her last option. Unfortunately, involving them means she will now have to attend their irritating meetings.

It also means she might get them all killed. . .

Frank Holdaway

Frank Holdaway created his first fictional character when he was three years old, insisting that his imaginary friend, Cowboy Joe, have a place at the dinner table. He later moved on from Westerns, but still loves the process of watching characters emerge from the dust and come to life. He believes that stories are powerful because stories influence thoughts, and thoughts create the world. He also thinks stories should be a lot of fun. He has a wonderful wife and two great kids who put up with his slightly warped sense of humor.
